Long Islanders Voted Our Lady of Mercy in Hicksville Best Catholic School on Long Island!
Let’s face it: Sending a student to Catholic school on Long Island is not cheap. Although a faith-based private school education is never going to be second-rate, for those who insist that their kids have such schooling, only the Best Catholic School will do. Sister Joanne Deegan has been principal at Our Lady of Mercy, part of the Diocese of Rockville Centre, for 32 years and is proud of both her faculty and students’ accomplishments. Sr. Joanne said that two of her faculty members have turned some of the seventh and eighth grade students into a “SWATT Team,” nothing violent, mind you, this SWATT Team consists of Students With a Tender Touch and are involved in compassionate activities that benefit the community. They recently completed a coat drive and also prepared PBJs for delivery to the INN. Kudos to the faculty for preparing these future leaders for community service!
